SESSC Social Worker

Hello!  My name is Jaime Clark, and I’m the newest member of the SESSC team.  I recently graduated with my Master’s in Social Work from UW.  My passion is working with older adults in a health and wellness setting.  My goal is to partner with older adults in the Southeast area to address their concerns and to help them through challenging life transitions.

Computer Lab Hours 
9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Monday – Friday
Please make note of the new Computer Lab hours.  All users must sign in and out at the Front Desk.  Computer use is limited to two hours for non-members.

Diabetes Shoe Program
Cost: Can be covered through Medicare.

If you are diabetic and need special shoes, Priority Footwear can provide you with custom fitted shoes just for you.

Eyeglasses, Hearing Aids and Cell Phones
The Seattle-Rainier Lions Club collects eyeglasses, hearing aids, and cell phones to repair and send all over the world. Donate items you no longer use at our Front Desk.

Food Bank Donations
Drop off donations for the Rainier Valley Food Bank right here at the Senior Center.

Lending Library
Please feel free to borrow any book and/or donate current paperbacks to the Center.

We care about your safety and health!  We encourage all participants to complete a Medical & Emergency card which provides us with valuable information in the case of an emergency.

Medical Equipment Loans

We have a limited number of walkers, canes, wheelchairs and other home health aids available for your use at no charge to you.

Holly Court Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 2:00 – 3:00 pm
Sundays, 8:00 pm
Location: 2nd Floor
This Alcoholics Anonymous group meets during the week and on Sundays.

Referrals are available on a wide range of services offered in King County. Services include utility assistance, health and dental, transportation, special assistance for caregivers, employment training and other government programs. Minor Home Repairs
Fee: Low-cost
Please call (206) 448-5751 to coordinate your services.
The Minor Home Repair program offers low-cost repairs for minor plumbing, electrical, or carpentry problems. Homeowners of all ages in Seattle, Shoreline, and Bellevue are eligible.

Rainier-Seattle Lions Club
The Rainier branch of the Lions Club is a service organization that supports SESSC.

SHIBA

SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors) HelpLine provides free, unbiased information about health care coverage and access to help improve the lives of all Washington state residents.  We assist people of all ages with questions or complaints about health care coverage, including Medicare, Basic Health, prescription drugs, children’s coverage, and more. Leland Rockoff, a trained Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisor (SHIBA), can answer your questions about Medicare. This service is sponsored by the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner, and this is a free, unbiased and confidential counseling service.

Sound Steps
Free
Sound Steps is a volunteer supported walking program with Seattle Parks and Recreation, Lifelong Recreation. This program is designed to get adults age 50+ moving and gaining the health benefits of regular exercise.  Participants in this year-round program are connected to other walkers on their level and given tools to measure progress. Encouragement comes from the support of volunteer walk leaders and regular check-ins.  Sound Steps offers weekly walking groups from a variety of locations, monthly hikes, and a training program to participate in a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon Walk event.

Located next to SESSC, The Brighton provides affordable housing for low-and moderate-income seniors 55 years of age and older and their families in SE Seattle.

Volunteer Chore Services
Free to low-income aging adults and adults with disabilities.
You can learn more about the program and eligibility guidelines by calling (888) 649-6850 or (206) 328-5787.
This is a Catholic Community Services program which provides free chore assistance to low-income aging adults as well as adults living with disabilities. Volunteers can assist you with a variety of chore assistance, including:

  • Light housekeeping
  • Grocery Shopping
  • Yard Work
  • Transportation

All Volunteers from Catholic Community Service programs are carefully screened through background checks, personal references and an interview.
